AV-Test laboratory in 2020 will conduct comprehensive testing of antiviruses for Windows 10. In a series of tests, each antivirus will be checked for protection level, performance and false positives
In 2020, the independent AV-Test laboratory will conduct a series of tests of antivirus solutions designed to protect home users on the Windows 10 64-bit platform . Every two months, antiviruses will be checked for protection against the latest and common threats, false positives and impact on computer performance.
How AV-TEST tests
Protection
One of the most important evaluation categories used by the independent AV-TEST laboratory when testing antivirus is Protection . The technique includes tests that use all the protective components and capabilities of the antivirus.
This testing used samples of the latest zero-day threats – malicious attacks, including web and email threats, and samples of widespread malware detected in the 4 weeks prior to testing.
Performance
The AV-TEST uses the Performance parameter to evaluate the impact of antivirus solutions on system performance when performing basic daily tasks on a computer.
Usability
The AV-TEST laboratory uses the Usability criterion to assess the usability of an antivirus solution, which is a test for false positives.
Testing schedule
- December 2019
- February 2020
- April 2020
- June 2020
- August 2020
Tested antiviruses
The laboratory specialists use the latest publicly available versions of antivirus for Windows 10 for testing. Security software can be updated at any time and make requests to cloud services. AV-Test focuses on realistic test scenarios and tests antiviruses against real threats. Antivirus solutions must demonstrate their capabilities using all components and levels of protection.
